Annual physical health checks
During 2024, we had discussions with people with certain mental health diagnosis who are entitled to an annual physical health check.
That if you have a long-term mental health condition such as schizophrenia, bipolar affective disorder, other psychoses, or if you are taking anti-psychotic medication you should be receiving an invitation for an annual physical health check. The health check will include a blood test, blood pressure check, height and weight check and some lifestyle questions about alcohol and smoking.
We would like to make these health checks the best possible experience for those that require them, whether you have attended an annual physical health check or not.
Please see below list of further actions we are planning as a result of the insights gained and decisions made:
Thank you to everyone that responded to our survey. Your feedback has helped us towards improving our services and ensuring more people are supported to have their health check and we've published a new webpage on the Mental Wellbeing Information Hub: Annual physical health checks | ICS
