Everyone who attended Club Chemistry from 5 to 15 March should take up the offer of a free antibiotic tablet and vaccine. This is a precautionary measure to prevent the disease from developing.

If you have symptoms, get help immediately.

People who are close contacts - for instance, you live with someone who has a confirmed case of meningitis - should also get an antibiotic tablet and vaccine.

If you or someone you know develops symptoms of meningitis or septicaemia, seek medical help urgently by going to the nearest Accident and Emergency department or calling 999.
