In Kent and Medway, Dynamic Support Arrangements (DSA) are in place to support autistic people and/or those with a learning disability whose mental health needs are causing concern to them, their families, or their support teams.
What are the different DSA arrangements?
The Dynamic Support Database (DSD)
This is for people of all ages.
The Database allows people’s health and care needs to be shared with professionals and for additional support to be considered and arranged quickly.
The Dynamic Support Service (DSS)
This is for children and young people on aged up to 25 years old who are on the dynamic support database.
This Service provides child and young person focussed support. They also work closely a person’s other services to add to or improve support.
Care and Education Treatment Reviews (CETR)
This is for children up to 18 years of age
Care and Treatment Reviews (CTR)
This is for adults.
When will these be helpful?
These meetings may be helpful when:
- A person is at risk of going to mental health hospital
- services are breaking down and struggling to improve things for things for the person.
- The person is at risk of involvement from the police or the criminal justice system.
Care and Treatments reviews (CTR)
Sometimes, a C(E)TR might be suggested as a way to get everyone in the same place (including the person and their family) to talk through what is important and make recommendations to the support services.
Individuals and families can expect to have information given to them in a way they can understand, to decide and agree if this meeting would be right for them. All should feel listened to, with time for their views to be considered.
Before a C(E)TR, individuals can ask for people that they think are important to their care to be invited. It should be held in a location that is easily accessible, or might be held online.
